CommonSight
Client — We Change Community Consulting · Detroit, MI
Overview
CommonSight is a civic tech platform designed to connect Detroit residents and investors working to improve neighborhoods. The app expedites the process of community development, giving more people access to participate — while helping save the city money by making the process more efficient.
The Problem
Detroit neighborhood improvement has historically been slow and inaccessible. Residents who want to see change have no direct way to connect with investors, and investors have no efficient way to identify where resources are most needed. The gap between community need and available capital is a coordination problem — and no existing platform was built to solve it.
What We Built
iOS Application
Native SwiftUI app built for We Change Community Consulting under contract. Two distinct user roles — resident and investor — with views and data access scoped to each.
Supabase Backend
Authentication, database, and real-time capabilities via Supabase. User accounts, neighborhood data, and stakeholder connections all managed from a single backend.
Resident View
Residents surface neighborhood improvement needs, track local development activity, and connect with investors who can act on the information they provide.
Investor View
Investors browse neighborhood data, identify priority areas, and connect with residents — replacing a manual, city-resource-heavy process with a digital one.
Our Role
CH Studios was contracted by We Change Community Consulting to lead development of the CommonSight iOS application — from architecture through implementation.
Outcome
Currently in active development under contract with We Change Community Consulting, building toward a public launch serving Detroit residents and community investors.
